Sunset Photos

In between our wedding ceremony and reception our Photographer scheduled a time for us to take photos as the sun was going down. She chose the perfect location, a cornfield that had just been harvested that was only a block from our reception hall. She couldn't have pin pointed this location any better as our wedding was very rustic.

DIY Wedding Programs

I created my own wedding programs as I couldn't find anything in my budget nor could I find exactly what I was looking for. I have very little artistic ability so if I can do this so can you!

How I went about doing it:

I used Microsoft Publisher to create my wedding programs. This was the most time consuming part of the project.
I bought the Kraft Paper from Hobby Lobby. They were actually full sheets that I had cut in half after they were printed from OfficeMax.
I bought craft scissors and a hole punch from Hobby Lobby to cut around the edges to give it some rustic feel instead of having a straight edge. The hole punch was used to punch a small hole in the corner so I would be able to use the twine to tie the knot in the corner.
I also got the twine from Hobby Lobby.

After they were created in Publisher, I saved the finished program to my USB drive and took it to OfficeMax where they printed them and cut them all in half. All I had left to do was cut them with the craft scissors, punch a hole in the corner, and tie the knot with the twine.

I would say the total estimated time it took me to do this would be about ten hours. I spilt it into stages and didn't do it all in one day. I would say I spent about $45 dollars on everything. Really easy and cheap! I had a lot of fun doing it so if you need any help or have questions about the process comment on my page and I'd be more then happy to help you!

The Dance

The Dance:

We hired a DJ: Your Way DeeJay owned/operated by by Shaun Satterfield

As you can see in the pictures the dance floor was packed all night long! I have never been to a wedding where the dance floor was packed from the time dinner was over to the very last song at midnight. People are still talking about our wedding, it's great to hear that everyone had such a great time!

The Photographer

Our photographer, Sarah (pictured below on the left), works for LaBrisa Photography. She was absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend her to anyone. She travels the world doing what she loves, photography. She captured our day in a way that I never imagined possible. If you are looking for someone who not only is able to capture your day but is professional and fun she is your go to gal! She was there from the time I was getting my hair done and didn't leave until the reception was nearly over!

Wedding Party Attire

The Rings

The Church

We were married at Eastside Christian Church. As you can see the wooden beams inside the sanctuary gave it that extra Rustic feel.

We lined the aisles with burlap bows which had bittersweet weaved in and out of the bow. These were also made by our florist, Bloomworks.

Guest Book Table

The Card Box:

My mom duplicated the card box form a picture I saw on google. We bought a plain circular cardboard box from Hobby Lobby for about $5. She painted it white and gave it a rustic touch. She cut the hole in the top so that cards could be placed inside. She stenciled on "Love Notes" and tied some twine around the card box.

Above you will see a few other decorations we had displayed on the guest book table as people entered the church. The orange and brown dowels you see above is was guests took as they exited the church. After our receiving line we walked out and all the guests were waving the dowels. We made them by going into the timber behind my moms house and cutting small tree branches and tying the orange and brown ribbon around each one. Simple and cheap!

Table Decor

We didn't set each table the same throughout the reception hall. Above you will see we had galvanized buckets which we stenciled on a "W" for our last name. We ordered baby's-breath from Bloomworks Floral Shop and trimmed it down and placed it inside the buckets. To prevent the buckets from tipping over we did fill the bucket about 1/4 full with decorative rocks. On each side we placed white candles which we found at the dollar tree for a $1 a piece. You can order bulk online as we had to order about 200 candles.  We had burlap running the length of the table which we bought at Hobby Lobby and had orange organza running the length of the runner as well.

We set each table with china and a water goblet that we rented from Gibbs Rental Store. We filled a plastic cellophane baggie with 1/4 cup of candy corn and tied the bag shut with burlap colored twine. Our wedding was on October, 26 so the candy corn gave it that Fall, Rustic feel we were going for. Guest loved the snack and were able to have something as they were waiting for the wedding party to arrive.

The Cake

The Cake:

Made by HyVee
Heart Cake Topper: Bought on Etsy
Burlap: Bought at Hobby Lobby
Cake Base: Wood Tree Stump

My inspiration for my cake was that I wanted something simple yet rustic. The Burlap and Rustic Herat Cake Topper gave it all the rustic feel that I wanted.

The cutting utensils:

We bought a set of plain cake cutting utensils and wrapped the handle in dark brown yarn and tied a silk bow around them to add a bit of rustic flare.

The Cupcakes:

The cupcakes were also made by HyVee. We had them alternate with a brown and white whipped frosting. We placed around the cake table on different rustic stands we found at goodwill and painted them a rustic orange color. It added various heights to the cake table that made it look amazing.

The Dress

The Dress:

From: Bridal Traditions
Cost: $1300
Alterations: $250

My dress was absolutely perfect. I remember the day I went shopping for it, I told my sisters that I wanted a strapless dress, with no lace. I had each of them just pick out dresses they thought would look good on me, I'm still not sure who actually picked this one out. I stepped into the first dress and they all oohhed and awwwed and said that was the one, then  put on the next one and they said the same thing. I thought we were in big trouble. I finally put this one on and my mom started crying and I knew this was the one that I had to have. Just to be sure I still tried on about ten more dresses and narrowed it down to the top three dresses. Trying them all on over and over, I kept coming back to this one. Something about it was just so elegant and it had that rustic feel that I had envisioned for my wedding. In the end hat I ended up getting a dress that had straps and lace, everything I said I didn't want. If I could give you any advice on picking out the perfect dress it would be: Be open to trying on things that you thought you would never like, because it could turn out to be your dream dress!
